Apple Watch can only save your life if you enable these features

I’m no longer surprised when I see stories of people saying the Apple Watch saved their lives. From detecting falls to monitoring heart rate, this little piece of technology can shed light on issues that could go unnoticed and have fatal consequences.

Of course, you should also make sure that your other gadgets are ready to help you in an emergency. Tap or click to access built-in phone settings that make it easier to call 911, alert others of health issues, and more.

Alerts can also go a long way. Tap or click the notifications you can turn on to make your life easier and protect yourself.

Now grab your Apple Watch and let’s set up the must-have health features.

First, set up the Health app

Your Apple Watch works in tandem with your iPhone, so you need to start there. The Health app allows you to enter details about your body, such as your height, weight, and blood type. There are several other options that you can choose to include or ignore. Here’s how to get there:

• Open the Health app.

• Select your profile picture in the upper right corner.

• Click on Health details.

• Enter your information.

Check your heart rate

While your Apple Watch won’t give you a perfect reading of your heart rate, it can give you an accurate estimate. To check, open the Heart rate app on your Apple Watch. You will see your current heart rate, resting rate, and average walking rate.

As long as your watch is on, it regularly measures your heart rate and records the data.

If you want to view previous heart rates, press the button. arrow in the upper left corner of the application.

Take an electrocardiogram

With a Apple Watch Series 4 or later, you can do an EKG, EKG, or better known as an EKG. This test records the timing and strength of your heartbeat. Doctors often use these tests to look for irregularities.

Important note: this function does not replace consultation with your doctor. Always see a doctor if you feel uncomfortable or notice a change in your heart rate or any other aspect of your health.

First you need to install and configure the ECG application. Here’s how:

• Open the Health app on your iPhone.

• Press the Browse tab, then tap Heart> Electrocardiograms (ECG)> Configure the ECG application.

• Once the configuration is complete, open the ECG application.

If you still don’t see the app on your Apple Watch, open the Watch the app on your iPhone and tap Heart. In the ECG section, tap To install.

How to do an ECG:

• Make sure your Apple Watch is snug and on the wrist you selected in the Apple Watch app. To check, open the Apple Watch app, press the My watch tab, then go to General> Watch orientation.

• Open the ECG application on your watch.

• Rest your arms on a table or on your knees.

• With the needle opposite your watch, keep your finger on the Digital crown (the small dial on the side of your watch). You do not need to press the digital crown during the session.

• Wait. The recording lasts 30 seconds. At the end of the registration you will receive a ranking; then you can type Add symptoms and choose your symptoms.

• Faucet to safeguard to note any symptoms, then touch Ended.

Fall detection

Do a quick search and you will see how many lives this feature has saved. Once turned on, if the watch detects a fall, it can contact emergency services for help. To configure it:

• Open the Watch the app.

Swipe down.

• Select Emergency SOS.

• Press the switch to activate Fall detection.

Now that fall detection is enabled, an alarm will sound if you fall. If you don’t respond, Apple will contact emergency services.

Configure medical identification

Everyone must do this step. You can create your medical ID in the iPhone Health app and store it on your watch. Open the Health app, and press the Medical identification option. You can add your medical history, allergies, medications and any other emergency details.

Oxygen sensor in the blood

If you have the Apple Watch Series 6, you can monitor your blood oxygen levels. The watch comes with a built-in oximeter to let you know if you have a good amount of oxygen circulating in your blood. Again, don’t use it in place of a doctor if you’re having trouble breathing.

When monitoring your blood oxygen level, you should see a number between 95 and 100. If you get repeat readings lower than that, contact your doctor.

To configure this:

• Open the Health app on your iPhone.

• Press the Browse tab, then tap Respiratory> Blood oxygen> Configure blood oxygen.

• Once the configuration is complete, open the Application of oxygen to the blood on your Apple Watch.

To take a blood oxygen measurement:

• Make sure your watch is snug but still comfortable.

• Open the Application of oxygen to the blood on your Apple Watch.

• Stay still. Keep your wrist flat with the watch facing up.

• Faucet Start. Keep your arm steady for 15 seconds. At the end of the measurement, you will receive the results.

• Faucet Ended.
